Last month I received an email inviting me down to Turtle Bay which has just opened in my local town, Middlesbrough. If you've not heard of the restaurant, then where have you been! Turtle Bay is a national establishment that specialises in Caribbean food and drink. It's all about Jerk... Rum.. Reggae.... and that's definitely what I got from my latest visit.
As Turtle Bay has a chilled out atmosphere and overall vibe I didn't want to get overdressed. I went for the 'heels & nice top' combo. The top happened to be a frilly light pink blazer style jacket from Topshop, which I also have in white. I love the shade especially on this jacket as it's perfect for SS17 and I'm sure I'll get my money's worth.
To go with the blazer, I bought a pair of EGO shoes 'Bella frill detail court heels in blush faux suede. These heels I feel are the perfect style staple which I now want in every colour. I also wore my blue ripped detailed heels to casual up the overall look of the outfit.
WHAT I'M WEARING
Heels - Ego Shoes
Jeans - Primark
Long Sleeve White Top - Primark
Blazer - Topshop
Hair Extensions - Pink Boutique
Watch - Henry London
Now onto the food & drink! If you've been following me for the last 3 years. You'll know my love for Turtle Bay. I used to be there weekly when I lived in Preston. Check out my blog post about my previous experience there | HERE |
Starting with the drinks, during happy hour it's 2'4 1 on the cocktails, so myself and my friend took full advance of this and had an array of cocktails including:
KOKO COLADA
Koko Kanu coconut rum, dark rum, pineapple, coconut syrup & cream, grated nutmeg
BAHAMA MAMA
Koko Kanu coconut rum, banana liqueur, pineapple juice, pomegranate syrup & bitters
TEASE ME
Dark rum, banana liqueur, Kahlua, coconut, fresh banana & cream
BAY BRAMBLE
White Rum, with blackberry liqueur, fresh lemon & club soda. Try as classic with Tanqueray gin
For food I decide to have:
DUCK ROLLS
Slow roasted shredded duck, with sweet onion, soy sauce & chilli, stuffed in toasted rolled flatbread, served with sour orange chutney
BRAISED PORK BELLY
24 hour marinated, jerk pork belly, slow braised & pit grill. Served with pork rind, sweet onion chutney, fresh green seasoning & sweet potato mash, with your choice of jerk glaze.
Turtle Bay's atmosphere takes you away from Middlesbrough and into a tropical beach hut paradise with its relaxing lighting and reggae music. The staff are faultless and so friendly it's like being served by one of your friends, I like how they go out of their way to make a conversation with you and make you feel comfortable. I've already planned my next visit to Turtle Bay, so Thank you to all the staff & management for making me feel so welcome, I cannot wait for my next Carribean meal.
